You are supposed to be able to use Zoom without downloading an app yourself, it downloads automatically when you join your first Zoom meeting. (You may get a request to allow it to run a small binary file). In our experience, albeit with a previous version of Zoom, this doesn’t always work. If it doesn’t you may be prompted at stage 2 to “Download and run Zoom”

To avoid having to do this just before the performance you may prefer to download the Zoom Client for Meetings (PC/Mac) or Zoom Mobile Apps (Android/Apple) to your device before then.

On the night of the Performance, the login site opens at 19:00 – we would urge you to log in as soon after this as possible – this should avoid any possible congestion problems close to the start of the performance.

MAY/JUNE 2020 PRODUCTION

For those invited by email, here are the joining instructions for the broadcast.

As an experiment during the pandemic lockdown Castle Players are presenting “Where Have All the Boys Gone” by “Kevin Barnett” as an online “play for voices”

We will be trialling this, by invitation only for Castle Players members, on Sunday 31st May. If this works as we anticipate, fingers crossed, we will repeat it on the next Sunday June 7th for the public at large, tickets available from 1st June.

Both performances will commence at 19:30, with login from 19:00, and will last approximately 60 minutes.

“Where Have All the Boys Gone” by “Kevin Barnett” is set at the time of the First World War. The play examines the manipulation of society by the ruling class in support of the war, notable via the White Feather movement and the costs paid by the many for what they had hoped might be a “Land fit for Heroes”.  Kevin is new member of Castle Players, who has played numerous roles on stage and written short stories, plays and performance poetry.

We will be performing it “Live” on-line using Zoom Conferencing. Both productions are free and you are cordially welcome to join us.

Full details of how you can login on the appropriate night are on our News pages, one for Members (MEMBERS LOGIN 31st MAY PERFORMANCE) and another for Non Members (PUBLIC LOGIN 7th JUNE MAY PERFORMANCE) The pages also give information on joining us using the Zoom app.

Dead Man’s Hand POSTPONED

Following discussions with Beaumaris Town Council who operate Beaumaris Town Hall we have reluctantly decided to postpone our production of Dead Man’s Hand which was due to be held in the  Town Hall on 2nd, 3rd and 4th April 2020.

We will advertise the new dates for the production both here on our website and by our usual methods in due course.

For anyone who has already purchased tickets we will be making refunds as set out below:

Tickets purchased on line:

If you have purchased tickets on line we have your email address and payment details so we will automatically refund the ticket price to your account and notify you accordingly by email.

Tickets purchased from the Bull Beaumaris or Tinkers & Belles:

Please take your tickets back to the venue where you purchased them and ask for a refund.

Please accept our apologises for any inconvenience this has/may cause.

Background information.

On Thursday 12 March we were advised by Beaumaris Town Council that they were cancelling a number of functions/events they were due to hold in the Town Hall because they were of the opinion that having regard to the escalation of the Covid 19 Coronavirus they would not be able to guarantee the safety/security of both attendees and Council staff and contractors.

As a charitable organisation with limited physical and financial resources Castle Players would not be in a position to guarantee the safety/security of the audience and our members both acting and front and back of house and for this reason we have reluctantly decided to follow the Council’s lead and postpone the production to a later date.

This decision was made prior to any advice/instructions arising from the Government’s COBRA meeting at midday on Thursday 12th March 2020.

Next Production 2020 – Dead Man’s Hand

Our next production will be the whodunit “Dead Man’s Hand by Seymour Mathews” in Beaumaris Town Hall on 2nd, 3rd & 4th April.

There will be a reading of the play at 7:30pm on Tuesday 21st January in the Castle Court Beaumaris.

This is open to members and non members, you can read parts or just listen if you prefer.

Auditions for parts will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday 23rd January in Beaumaris Town Hall.

Again this is open to members and non members. If you are interested in a non acting role please come along and let us know how you would like to become involved.

Beaumaris Victorian Christmas 23rd/24th November

Once again Castle Players will be selling roast chestnuts from 12:00 pm ish. Depends on the time it takes for the charcoal to get up to temperature!

By public demand we will also be selling mulled wine again, we haven’t done this for the last couple of years and also various christmas cakes, biscuits and hopefully some other surprises!

Come and see us outside the Bulkeley in Castle Street.
